Summary: Cautionary tale for us all, this one is. When faced with the prospect of being the first of anything, one must take into consideration as to what risks he can expose himself to. If you happen to be anything like Dan Prescott, things will go so horribly, horribly wrong.

History: Lt. Dan Prescott was like any young brother: under the shadow of his more sophisticated sibling Navy Cmdr. Charles "Chuck" Prescott, constantly trying to be cool, and generally being a complete and utter blowhard on every occasion. He already acted like an ass when he tested out the space-faring Y-13 rocket, but that didn't stop officials from claiming he was perfect for the next model, the Y-12. Dan proved he had learned absolutely nothing, as he allowed his time in the spotlight to completely go to his head, disobeying orders and going even farther into space. It cost him dearly, as when he finally stopped, his rocket came into contact with a cloud of radioactive meteor dust, which covered everything inside and out. Upon crashing back into Earth, Dan went missing. Then reports of both people and cattle being drained of blood came in. As it turned out, Dan had been covered in the dust, draining him of oxygen to the point where only oxygen-rich blood could satiate him.

Final Fate: After some difficulty, Chuck and company are finally able to get Dan into an environment in which his sanity can shine through. At this point, Dan laments how his actions and recklessness ultimately led to his downfall, and shortly before the oxygen leaves him for dead, he sadly quips "I just had to be the first man into space".

Powers/Abilities: The meteor dust coating makes Dan impervious to bullets.

Weakness: The dust is also killing Dan from the inside, reducing his oxygen level unless more blood can be obtained.

Scariness Factor: 4-Dan is not only immensely pitiful, but also quite frightening. His physical appearance is almost zombie-like, and he's nigh-invulnerable. It took replicating the environment he was in at the moment of his transformation to get him to realize his actions.

Trivia: -The film was originally going to be called "Satellite of Blood".

-There is indeed oxygen in blood, mainly in the molecule known as Hemoglobin.
